- Important Winter Weather Information | Cave Spring Georgia
< Back Important Winter Weather Information Jan 23, 2026 City of Cave Spring Residents, The City has important information regarding the pending inclement weather. Please bring all pets indoors or ensure that adequate heating methods are in place for outdoor animals. To protect your home: • Wrap all outside pipes and faucets. • Open cabinets to allow warm air to circulate around exposed pipes. • Allow faucets to drip during freezing temperatures. • In the event of a power outage, and if you do not have a heat source, turn off the water at the main hand valve and drain your pipes to prevent damage. Please make sure you have an adequate water supply: • Fill tubs, jugs, and containers with water for drinking and flushing. • If filling bathtubs or large containers, ensure small children are kept away from standing water for safety. Please stay home and do not travel unless it is an emergency. Check on your neighbors. Avoid going outside unless you have a way to stay warm. Gather in one area of your home to conserve heat. If we experience extreme freezing temperatures, and depending on road conditions, there may be limited response capability from the fire and police departments. Both departments are fully staffed and on standby for emergencies. The City is in continuous communication with 911 dispatch and is using internal communication systems to remain informed and coordinated. In the event of a power outage, state law requires that if water tank levels fall below 25%, water usage must be limited to ensure adequate supply for the fire department in the event of an emergency. The City has a plan in place should power outages impact water supply. Please ensure all phones and devices are fully charged. During a power outage, we recommend designating one phone as an emergency phone—disable nonessential features and conserve battery so it is available if you need to make an emergency call. The fire department, police department, city staff, and council have been working hard all week preparing for this winter event. While we hope these measures will not be needed, we are prepared to the best of our ability. Stay safe, City of Cave Spring Make sure you are also following Cave Spring Fire and Rescue, Floyd County Emergency Management Agency Floyd County E-911 GA for other information and updates.
