< Back The City of Cave Spring is accepting applications for Wastewater Treatment Operator Jul 22, 2026 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Department: Water/Sewer Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary The City of Cave Spring is seeking a dependable, motivated individual to join our Wastewater Department. This position is responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring the City's wastewater treatment facility to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to obtain state certification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment and systems. Collect, analyze, and document wastewater samples to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance on plant equipment, pumps, plumbing systems, and related infrastructure. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and operational issues. Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, laboratory testing, and regulatory reporting. Assist with the installation, repair, and upgrading of plant equipment and facilities. Perform general grounds maintenance, including mowing, weed eating, and other lawn care duties to maintain the wastewater facility. Perform manual labor and safely lift heavy materials as required. Respond to emergency situations and assist with after-hours operations when needed. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Ability to obtain a Georgia Wastewater Operator License within one (1) year of becoming eligible based on required work experience. Ability to work independently while following written and verbal instructions. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and operational testing. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting, prolonged standing, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in wastewater treatment, water utilities, public works, or a related mechanical field. Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and safety procedures. Work Schedule This position typically works Monday through Friday during normal operating hours. However, employees must be available to: Work weekends and holidays as needed. Respond to after-hours call-outs and emergency situations. Work overtime when operational needs require. The City of Cave Spring is an Equal Opportunity Employer. There's something for every age, so come early, stay late, and enjoy a spooky day in Historic Downtown Cave Spring! Coffin Races- Located at City Hall 12:00 PM – Team Check-In 1:30 PM – Race Begins 6:00 PM – Parade Line-Up Build it. Race it. Win it! Teams of five will race their custom-built, human-powered coffins down the course in this Halloween-meets-derby competition. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on their favorite teams! Coffin Race Registration Costume Contest: Located at The Lumberyard (22B Broad Street) Registration: 4:30 PM Contest Begins: 5:00 PM Show off your Halloween spirit by wearing your best costume! Categories will be available for all ages, so everyone is welcome to participate. To continue providing the level of care our community expects and deserves, the city is seeking quotes from qualified lawn care services to provide cemetery grounds maintenance. The City is issuing a request for bids on routine cemetery maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, and leaf removal for the remainder of the season. The City of Cave Spring asks that lawn care teams provide a quote for 1 service/month . The selected lawn care team will play an important role in maintaining one of Cave Spring's most treasured public spaces. The Cave Spring Cemetery is located at Cemetery Rd Cave Spring GA, 30124. Quotes should be submitted by Monday August 3rd, 2026 , in time for bids to be reviewed by the City Council at the August 4th Work Session . At the next work session, submissions will be evaluated, and a recommendation will be presented to the City Council for consideration and award.
