< Back BRAG RIDERS COMING TO CAVE SPRING Jun 1, 2026 The Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) will be making its way through Cave Spring today, Monday, June 1, with more than 900 cyclists traveling through our community. Riders are expected to arrive throughout the day today, spend the night in Cave Spring, and depart Tuesday morning as they continue their journey across Georgia. Motorists should expect increased bicycle traffic on roads leading into and around Cave Spring. Please use extra caution, slow down, and be prepared for possible delays. Riders will travel into Cave Spring via Blacks Bluff Road before venturing toward Alabama and returning through Floyd County. Cyclists are expected to be on the following roads throughout the day: • George Road • Fosters Mill Road • Spout Springs Road • Mills Road • Cedartown Street Participants will be camping overnight at Rolater Park. Safety Reminders: • Give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing • Watch carefully at intersections and crosswalks • Be patient and share the road • Stay alert for groups of riders throughout the day We are excited to welcome BRAG participants to Cave Spring and hope everyone enjoys their stay in our community. < Back Statewide Drought Level 1 Declared Apr 28, 2026 On April 27, 2026, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) issued a statewide Level 1 Drought Response due to ongoing dry conditions and impacts on water resources. As part of this declaration, public water systems are required to share information with residents about drought conditions and the importance of water conservation through various communication methods. At this time, outdoor water use is still allowed and remains unchanged under Level 1 guidelines. Watering is permitted between 4:00 PM and 10:00 AM , and no additional local restrictions may be imposed without state approval. EPD will continue monitoring drought conditions using factors such as rainfall, stream and reservoir levels, and groundwater data. For more information, please visit the Georgia EPD website. Water Conservation Tips Regularly check for and repair leaks inside and outside your home. Turn off the tap while shaving, brushing your teeth, washing your face, or rinsing food. The City of Cave Spring has a Mayor/Council form of municipal government consisting of 5 Council Members and the Mayor. For election purposes council seats are divided into 5 posts. CITY GOVERNMENT The City of Cave Spring, Georgia operates under a Council/Manager form of government, a structure designed to effectively blend political leadership with professional management. In this system, the City Council, elected by the residents, sets policies, enacts ordinances, and develops an overall vision for the city. The council then appoints a professional City Manager to implement these policies and oversee the day-to-day administrative operations of the city. Fire Department A volunteer force of 34 certified firefighters with round-the-clock dispatch provides excellent fire protection for residents and business in the City of Cave Spring and a portion of Floyd County surrounding the city. Sanitation Department Solid Waste Collection The City of Cave Spring provides garbage pickup service to city residents and businesses through a private waste company, Waste Industries. Residents should place their household trash inside of garbage bags. Bags should be placed in container provided by Waste Industries only. No other containers are permitted for pick up. Containers should be placed at a safe location beside the street on Thursday evenings. Garbage pickup may start as early as 3AM on Friday mornings. Holiday Schedule: Waste Industries is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day if the holiday falls on a Friday, delay garbage pickup by one day. Any other holidays are subject to change and if garbage is not collected on Friday, leave containers out until Saturday to be picked up. Any garbage complaints or questions can be sent to ccosper@cityofcavespring.com Proper placement of your garbage receptacle is important for timely collection service. Place your trash can at the curb with the wheels facing your house and the lid opening into the street. Keep your garbage cans four feet apart and at least four feet or more from any obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, lamp posts, or power lines. Keep your container at the curb until the end of the day if it hasn't been collected. Sometimes the timing of GFL’s arrival changes, and we don't want to miss you if they come later than expected. Yard Trimmings Collection Yard trimmings such as leaves and grass clippings should be placed in garbage bags for pickup. Leaves and grass will NOT be picked up unless bagged. Vines will not be picked up. Appropriately sized tree limbs and brush should be placed near the street, but not on sidewalks, storm drains, or ditches. Customers should call City Hall to request work order for pickup. Brush pickup is on Tuesday’s so please call to place work orders before then. . Recyclable Materials Recyclable materials can be deposited at the Floyd County Landfill on Walker Mountain Road or at the remote site on Kings Bridge Road. Waste Water Wastewater service is available to over 350 residential and commercial customers in Cave Spring. A renovation/upgrade of the wastewater treatment plant was completed in 2004, which substantially enhanced its treatment capacity. Streets & Sanitation The City of Cave Spring streets/sanitation department strives to provide and maintain clean and safe streets, rights-of-way, drainage ways, and public cemeteries. Solid waste collection is provided on a regular schedule. Yard trimmings are picked up according to work orders. The department plants and maintains trees, shrubs, and flowers to beautify city properties and streets, and also maintains city-owned cemeteries. Streets Department Mowing of right-of-ways The City of Cave Spring mows grass on right-of-ways on a regular basis and trims tree limbs that interfere with traffic. There is also regular cleaning of storm drains. Cemetery Upkeep Grass is mowed on a regular basis at Round Hill Cemetery on Alabama Street and Cave Spring Cemetery on Rome Road.
