Job Description:
Under general supervision perform law enforcement and crime prevention work for the protection of life and property; to maintain order, enforce laws and ordinances.
Protect life and property within the City by performing a combination of duties: suppressant crime patrol, directing traffic, issuing citations, summonses, investigating traffic accidents, apprehending and arresting suspects, and to perform general and specific assignments from superior officers in accordance with established rules and procedures; provide quality police service to all citizens, visitors, and businesses in an efficient and professional manner. Perform other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Â May include, but are not limited to, the following:
l Must be 21 years of age and possess P.O.S.T. Basic Law Enforcement Certification, not be on probationary status, or have any sanctions with P.O.S.T. Council
l Must be a legal citizen of the United States
l Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED
l Ability to distinguish between colors and have vision correctable to 20/20 pursuant to visual acuity standards
l Patrols the City and receives dispatched calls for service to help prevent crime, aid citizens needing    assistance, and arrest violators of the lawÂ
l Enforces traffic laws and ensure safe motor vehicle operation throughout the CityÂ
l Prepares written reports as required by specific assignmentsÂ
l Investigates reports of criminal activity, interviews victims and witnesses, seeks, gathers and submits evidence for processing
l Testifies in court and provide credible testimony in a court of law as requiredÂ
l Responds to emergency calls and routine complaints and disturbances and takes necessary actionÂ
l Directs and escorts traffic, operates traffic radar monitoring equipment and issues traffic citationsÂ
l Conducts investigations of traffic accidents and crimes against persons and propertyÂ
Benefits/Salary:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
